Githurai 45, The city within a city...

On a sunday afternoon, we are a busy market among other things...

The name Githurai 45 is enough to send cold chills down the spine of many with memories of a mugging or lost this or that. You may not believe it but this 'lower middle-class' estate have changed in many positive ways.
Gone are the days that phones used to be picked right off the hands of their dear owners in moving motor vehicles and mean looking youths used to be the face of the estate, Today resident are proud to have a huge fleet of buses that ferry them and and from town. The fares are reasonable with peak hours being at 70 kshs and off-peak with as low as 10 kshs! The estate boast of two markets one that offers fresh produce direct from the farms in the highlands and the other that offers second hand wares ranging from clothes to carpets.
Rentals properties are readily available for both residential and commercial usage. Rental properties go for as much as 1500 ksh per month for a room to apartments ranging 25000 kshs. For business people who may be interested to invest worry not about the customer for the area have a population of more than 750,000 people.
The area is secure, we have a Administration Police camp, Chiefs Camp, a regular police station and we are in close proximity to Kasarani Police and Traffic Headquarters. Regular police patrols are evident and this has reduced the crime rate of the area. A wise man once said;

'If you want total security, go to prison. There you're fed, clothed, given medical care and so on. The only thing lacking... is freedom.'

I cannot claim the area has total security but the freedom to do as you will within the confines of the law is there for sure. In many a time the perception we have about a person or place is often than not wrong. Be ready to experience and understand and you will have build your knowledge about the place.
